Stop Chrome From Opening PDF Files In The Browser
Google Chrome has a pretty cool feature which allows it to open PDF files right in the browser.
That is great for anyone that does not have Adobe Acrobat Reader or an equivalent viewer, but what if you need to open it up to fill out the editable fields?
You can’t do it through the browser, so you have to take the additional step of saving the PDF to your PC and then opening it in your preferred PDF Viewer. It’s not a huge deal to do that, but in some cases, wouldn’t it be better if it just saved the file by default?
Here is how you do it:
- Open a new Tab in Chrome and type the following into the address bar and press Enter:
- Look for the option that shows Chrome PDF Viewer and press the Disable Link below it.
From now on, Chrome will no longer open the PDF in the browser. It will automatically download it, so you can open it however you like.
If you ever need to turn it back on, just go to the same place and click the Enable link. Done!
